Don’t most people like to take the elevator instead of the stairs? My husband didn’t graduate from high school but he is an elevator mechanic and we are doing well! 😊 Great benefits too!
They will demand hs records even though you went to college and got a degree. They will drag out the training of trade 6 yrs and beyond for somehting that calls for just 6 mos – 2yrs Depending on who they stick you with for a (tor) mentor it may be a great education or maybe not if the guys an A-hole.
Absolutely true, but just a few little reminders, these are VERY labor intensive and can lead to life long chronic health issues such as back pain and even cancer in some instances. Also women are often made fun of or abused in these jobs (mostly by the older generations but sometimes by the newer generations) my suggestion is to find a job with "big brothers" you will be generally safer and happier with these types of colleagues. I really hope if you are a woman you don't get discouraged by this because these trades do really need you!
Yes, but the reality of these jobs is that most of these high salaries are for people who've been decades in it. The old timers brag about how much they make and stay puzzled as to why more young people don't get in, then they proceed to pay the newbies scraps for years on end, if they'll ever take apprentices, to whom they'll teach the bare minimum possible so they don't get "too smart" and start working for themselves. (the real money is in starting a business)
If there's a "very high demand" and low supply of labor it's often for a reason. Society wants young men to go do these highly needed but low-prestige jobs for a pittance, while half the workforce pretends to work in an office for six figures.
My dad was a plumber for 40+ years and don’t get me wrong..he made decent money BUT he dealt with A LOT of crappy people (including the employer he had that was SUCH A POS he self employed)—NOT as easy as it sounds and someone ALWAYS wants it for free knowing they can’t get it anywhere cheaper. Read the fine print behind trade jobs esp plumbing:/
How to make it in the trades: 1. Be ready to get dirty. Expect it. 2. Don't complain about the weight, just do it. 3. Have a thick skin. Teasing is a sign of affection.

What about your body breaking down prematurely and you have no other skills? Is dealing with $&it a large portion of your exciting to you? No thanks!😮
Shhhhhhhhhh. Don't be spreading these secrets around. The shortage is what keeps the pay high. If everyone was doing it, it wouldn't pay so well

As long as people live in houses, they will need other highly skilled people to fix those houses. 😉
You are better off in the space industry. Been there, done that.
they should be paying CNAs that much
My dad is a plumber
Yes, but Trades are a different kind of Intelligence. Sure You can be taught, but IMHO You're either good at Trades, or You're not.

Thank you! This message need to be spread far and wide!
Im a plumber for 2 years now
Yes but how does one become a plumber when all plumber apprenticeships want 1-2 if not 3 years experience?
That's a lot of trades. As an industrial painter I'll clear 100k on an average year.
I wish there was more apprentiships offered in Australia, I only see demand for already trained and experienced tradesmen.
I really want to get out of retail and become an electrician, so tired of the BS in retail jobs.
Hallo mem
Australian interstate truck driver here
158k last financial year
155k the year before
If I was anywhere near a first world country, I'd be applying for a skill trade job over an office job any day.
